Empowering women is what we're all about.

As a central value to Nora Swimwear, the blog is used to feature and celebrate women who are doing something they are proud of.

Introducing Sarah, the girl behind the lens of our Spring 17 collection.

Nickname: Saha

Age: 20

Where are you living now (and with who)? I’m currently living in Fredericton, New Brunswick, back in my family home with my six sisters.

Occupation? Wedding and Lifestyle Photographer

Name your favourite hobbies (besides photography): Hiking, writing, and cooking!

When did you first get into photography? I first got into photography a little over three years ago, during my last year in high school after being a DSLR camera on a whim!

Can you remember the first picture you took? It was an over saturated, grossly filtered, high quality selfie (classic)

What was the best part about shooting the Nora Spring 2017 lookbook?

Tell us something that most people don’t know about you: I’m quite introverted! This may be a little surprising considering I can be quite a loud person and have been forced to put myself out there as part of my career, but I definitely love some good alone time.

What do you do when you’re feeling stressed? I go on really long walks, and pray. A lot.

What’s your morning ritual? I wish I was one of those cool people that had a Youtube worthy morning ritual, but I’m usually all over the place! Some mornings, I’ll be up at 5 shooting a sunrise engagement. Other mornings, I’m plugging away at editing or answering emails at a local coffee shop. It definitely varies from day to day!

What’s your favourite thing about Nora Swimwear? I love that the back bone of it is to flatter and empower woman of all shapes and sizes, ages etc., and the designs are GORGEOUS.

Why is it important for women to empower each other? We live in a society that is constantly perpetuating us to rank ourselves against one another. From grades to the way we look to how many followers we have on Instagram. And that’s crippling, for ourselves and for those around us. It is so very important to cultivate a community of encouragement and empowerment because we all have the beautiful ability to help each other grow and learn and flourish as women. TOGETHER.

What does “living a healthy lifestyle” mean to you? I think taking care of your body and well-being is so essential to over-all success. I’m learning that forming good habits and discipline (or lack there of) in your diet and fitness transcends into other areas of your life.

As a photographer and entrepreneur, I have to take care of myself, and I really like to look at my lifestyle holistically and treat my body and mind well with good whole foods, nature’s beauty, and rest when it needs it.

Name something you need to do more often: Sleep.

Name something you need to do less:  Procrastinate.

Tell us about your funniest photo shoot experience: When I first got into photography in high school, I was asked to photograph the puck drop for the Daily Gleaner, and on my way out, I wiped out on the ice. Two and a half times. In front of 750 people. Um. Yeah.

Where would we find you on your days off, and what would you be doing? To be honest, my work flows into my life, even on my days off. And I wouldn’t have it any other way. I always have a camera in hand, I always write, I always like to be outdoors. Working for myself gives me the ability to do all of those things every day! And I do.

Any upcoming adventures? Yes! In March I am going to Iceland with some very talented photographers from across Canada and the US I have never met before! We’ll be creating content together and exploring the most enchanting country. Following that, I will be heading off for a 3 month long travel adventure (details to be announced in the near future).
