All in nora girl

Meet the Nora Girls Fund Winner: Lauren

There is a lack of representation of women in STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and math) overall. However, I am part of a new generation of young women entering the field of science en masse, and therefore find myself surrounded by strong intelligent women most days. Of all the young people who have contacted me to talk about my path to becoming a marine biologist, most have been female. I know we are seeing a change.

I fell in love with the idea of empowering women of any body type, size or color. I believe it is extremely important for women worldwide to feel confident in the body that they have, and here at Nora Swim that is the main mission! I also love supporting local start ups and this was a great opportunity to be involved.

I’m a millennial stereotype in that I don’t want to limit myself to one thing. I’m in law school because I’d like to get into media law, but I also want to tell my own story and advocate for young people with chronic illnesses. So, I guess you could say I’m a wannabe multi-hyphenate.

At Cotty Bound, we really want our customers to both look great and feel like they’re truly making a difference. With that in mind, we have guaranteed to donate our entire first year of profits (yes, you read that correctly) to a local animal rescue shelter, Speaking of Dogs. I am confident that we can help make an impact in ending the cruelty, abandonment, mistreatment and homelessness of man’s best friend.

If you feel like you aren’t satisfied with what you’re doing or your work isn’t something you’re passionate about and you want to create, then do that. You are likely feeling that way for a reason and you are meant to do more and be more, so follow that gut feeling! I would also tell you to have a crystal clear vision of where you want to take your company.

I was born and raised in LA and moved up to the northwest about 11 years ago. Now I live in downtown Vancouver. It was the best decision I ever made. ETJ started out as a passion project. I've always loved jewelry and modern design. I also love the idea that jewelry can elevate an outfit almost instantly.
